Our projects help teachers at Czech public primary schools introduce more inspiring approaches in the classroom. Astute secondary-school students from disadvantaged backgrounds get the chance to study at Open Gate’s eight-year grammar school, and determined university students gain experience in an international setting.
We are committed to helping as many children and young people as possible gain access to an education which can develop their full potential. Because only this can prepare them for a new world.
We are active mainly in the Czech Republic. We believe that for our work to be as effective as possible, we need to lend a hand in the place we know best.
It is important for us to see the bigger picture and the outcomes at the end of the chain. We want to know not only the purpose of our aid but also how it will reach the recipient. It is essential for us to support specific projects we are familiar with and where we know what is happening, why, and how. Donating money to an anonymous pool of charity and not knowing what eventually becomes of it is out of the question. Our approach requires a lot of our energy and time, but it is worth it.
Our philanthropy is not fuelled by a desire for public recognition. On the contrary, charity is inherently private – we do not dress it up in marketing to score points.
