Petr Kellner

Petr Kellner was one of the founders of PPF Group and long managed its strategic development and direction.

He and his wife Renáta set up their first family foundation in 2002. They later merged their mainly education-focused philanthropic work under the umbrella of The Kellner Family Foundation.

In addition to education, Petr devoted his attention to culture and science throughout his life. For example, PPF Art was one of the first private companies to systematically support the arts in the Czech Republic in the 1990s and has been instrumental in saving many unique art projects and works. He also supported the development of innovative cancer treatments through the biotechnology company SOTIO.

Although PPF Group’s activities required Petr Kellner to continually travel the world, he was always very happy to return home to the Czech Republic. He lived and paid his taxes here, and his children went to school here. It is not only through his family foundation that the Czech Republic has benefitted. For example, he donated from other private sources so that modern equipment could be purchased for Czech hospitals. He also channelled support into the Liberec and Křivoklát areas. Even in his work, he was always thinking about projects that would make sense for the Czech Republic.

Tragically, Petr Kellner died in a helicopter accident in Alaska in March 2021.
