I am happy to say I am not being taught in the old-school style and enjoy learning through practical coursework. My second expectation, which was another reason I chose to go to a London-based university, has not been fulfilled – I don’t have a job right now and haven’t had one since I came to London. I certainly live, study, and am surrounded by a multicultural society, and English is the only way to communicate for the most part.
Now, on to what I am up to right now. I have started to study using the Bloomberg Terminal, which is a great platform full of any financial information you can think of. I have attended Meet the Entrepreneur series and am finding out as much information as possible about starting up a company – just research, nothing specific yet.
Next semester, I would like to do more things and seek new opportunities. The first thing I would like to focus on is a job, and since I have failed to find a job in the private sector, I will try volunteering. I am also thinking of joining a student magazine that is supposed to be published at our school, but since I have seen only one issue so far, this is certain to be a challenge for me.
When I think of who I was before coming to London and who I am right now, I can see an important change – I am leaving ignorance behind and am eager to learn new stuff I thought wasn’t important for my life. That is certainly something I will continue doing, because you never know what you will need in life.
