Studying?

I’m therefore spending the current term in Czechia – universities are still closed, however in the UK they open soon. Obviously with restrictions – seems like that will stay this way for the remainder of the academic year. When I went home for Christmas I expected to go back to the UK in a month or so, even with compulsory quarantine and a COVID test. One might’ve thought travelling couldn’t get any worse, but he would be proven very wrong. If I wanted to go to the UK nowadays, I would need one test here, in Czechia, which is alright, but then two more after arrival, which is quite costly. And quarantine on top of that. But I am actually still lucky, since I don’t have to spend the quarantine in a hotel. However, seeing the current situation, that could change anytime. On top of that, travelling back would be about the same hassle, so one doesn’t really think about travelling these days. It’s not the end of the world though, so we’ll see what happens after Easter. I am used to planning up front, but the current situation forces me to plan ad hoc.

We’ve been told already that the remainder of this term would be similar to the first term (I’ve written about it in the previous blog). We probably just have to wait and see how the situation unfolds now, but I am hoping by September we’re more or less back to normal (I’ve always been an optimist) – it’s important to note that the UK seems to be on the right track, so thankfully we have something to look forward to.
