One step closer to my goal

Finally, I am done with the first year, and I cannot believe what happened in such a short amount of time. In the second semester, I had ‘only’ six subjects, which was a huge improvement compared to the first semester. However, these subjects were more time demanding, so in the end I have concluded that the first semester was nothing. Among my subjects were Anatomy, Histology, Physiology, Biochemistry, Botany and Zoology. Only two of them were finished with an exam, Anatomy and Histology.

In the first time of my life, I experienced the feeling of uncertainty during my credit test from Physiology. I was almost totally certain that I did not pass. Luckily, I did and I was even happier when I found out that not many people were able to pass for second or third time. Then my exams were coming. My first exam was from Histology. The oral exams seem most logical to me, but it really depends on luck which questions the student is going to pick. In my case, I was not lucky. From three questions I was unsure about two. Even though I had really great grades from the practical part and two good grades from theoretical, the third question was a fateful one, and I thought I am going to fail. When the doctor saw that I was just unlucky and I knew everything around, she gave me D. Of course I was really disappointed afterwards. Now I see the whole exam more positively. Moreover, when I found out that many students are not even able to pass, my grade is satisfactory. After my bad experience with Histology, I was really afraid of the next exam. Nevertheless, I manage to pass Anatomy with a grade C.
Moreover, this year was not only about school for me. Firstly, in December my mum was diagnosed with benign tumor in her brain and had to undergo a surgery. Afterwards I spend two months at home helping my mum. The following return to school was very difficult in terms of change in my daily routine. Her convalescence is enduring till today and most likely is going to continue for a long time.
However, this semester had also had its happy moments. For my birthday, I got my best friend Karel, the African snail. Furthermore, I have taken care of a pack of Bernese Mountain dogs, and this spring puppies have been born.
The second semester was educating in terms of school as well as in life. As a previous great student with A’s, I have learned that nobody cares about grades at university and the main thing is to have the knowledge. I have learned how to appreciate even different grades which are not as good as A. In the life positive moments are replaced with negative, but I have learned to like this variability. Mainly, it makes me the person  who I am.
