I am looking forward to Witchcraft next year

As you may have read in my last post, my final history exam was slated for 8 June. I started to prepare for it right after I got back from the Easter holidays. I knew that, while still “only” in my first year, this exam would be quite taxing, and I certainly didn’t want to underestimate it.

As you may have read in my last post, my final history exam was slated for 8 June. I started to prepare for it right after I got back from the Easter holidays. I knew that, while still “only” in my first year, this exam would be quite taxing, and I certainly didn’t want to underestimate it.

So I started getting together with schoolmates, and we prepared thought maps and discussed various topics. I was worried about the upcoming exam at first, but after the first week of repeating stuff I realized that it was actually going quite well since our group was really active. We studied virtually everywhere we could, but perhaps we spent the most time in the park and the school’s library.

Of course, I didn’t spend the last month before the exam preparing for exams only – there were other assignments as well, including our group presentation that I mentioned in my previous post. The presentation was based on our group research in London on the topic of “Death in London”. We also prepared a classroom activity to go with the presentation, and it received huge applause. I think that our seminar students won’t forget it anytime soon.

Aside from schoolwork, I also pursued my hobbies. I am a member of the local poker community. We hold regular tournaments, collect points, and the nine players with the highest scores at the end of each gaming period qualify for the district round, with the prospect of proceeding to the national round, which can be seen as a real success. We also organize charity tournaments – last month, I did so myself. With my experience from when I worked at a casino, I am always in charge of ensuring a smooth course of the tournaments; players appreciate it, and it generally helps improve my relations with the locals.

I still perform as a magician. I do regular shows at a local pub. I was immensely lucky because one of England’s top magicians moved to Bath. We meet and discuss various card and coin manipulations and tricks. This may change in my second year, as my time will be much more limited. Still, I will try to pursue the hobby, albeit not as often as previously.

For the second year, I chose highly interesting subjects such as the Third Reich, the Great War and Witchcraft. I also will have a mandatory core history module. As my last elective class, I chose an Open Module. I will have to find a job and gain valuable working experience. What I look forward to most is perhaps the Witchcraft subject; every student that has taken it rates it as excellent. For now, though, all I have to do is enjoy my well-deserved holidays, and then get back to Bath in September and embark on whatever new adventures destiny has in store. I bid you farewell and am looking forward to sharing my new experiences and knowledge with you in my next blog post.

In the meantime, have good times.
