Death in London

The Christmas holidays are over, and I returned to Bath and headed at full steam into the new semester. I was also in for a lot of intriguing study events. Still in January, I took a three-day trip to London, where I was to study all of London’s archives and browse all the history museums.

The Christmas holidays are over, and I returned to Bath and headed at full steam into the new semester. I was also in for a lot of intriguing study events. Still in January, I took a three-day trip to London, where I was to study all of London’s archives and browse all the history museums.

The entire history department of our university took this study trip (three buses full of students). We stayed at a beautiful student hostel, right across the street from the London Museum of Natural History. We were divided into several groups, and each group had to study various historical topics, confined however between the 16th to 18th centuries. My group and I chose the topic “Death in London”. An excellent topic, I must say. We learned a lot of interesting stuff in the museum archives, which will come in handy for our great presentations, which will greatly influence my final grades. The trip was also great in that we got to know each other better and struck up new friendships.

Also, I have moved into a new house, and I must say that I am more than happy about it. I have even arranged for my accommodation for next year, so I won’t have to do that during the summer vacation, as most students do. Things are as smooth as butter at school. This week is my “reading week,” which means a week when we are expected to read all that we need for our final essays. I am happy to say honestly that all the language barriers are gone, and I even get better grades than my English schoolmates on our joint presentations.

As you could read in the “Hobbies” section, magic is my greatest hobby. That is why I tried to find a place to indulge in and practice my hobby as soon as I could. I found a nice local pub where I do magic shows regularly, and I am really happy about it, because it has been a success so far. I also got involved in the making of the school musical titled “Rock ’n’ Roll High.” It’s a student project aimed at creating a parody of High School Musical. I am the only participating student who is not a Performing Arts student. This means that everybody else is a trained actor, dancer, etc.

I will get back to the Czech Republic for the Easter Holidays, between April 16 and May 9. Then, once I get back to England, I will take my final exams in medieval and modern history on June 8, in the form of written essays at school. Until then, take care, and cheersJ.
