Aberdeen University Maths Society

The University of Aberdeen is famous for an enormous number of societies and clubs. There are societies of Russians, golf players, republicans, and the people interested in paranormal events. Nevertheless, in 2015 the Maths Society was founded and mathematicians started to meet. Well, at least those ones that are at least a bit interested in the outer world and whose only other interest is not watching Numberphile.

In the last school year I became a member of this society and took part in many interesting events. I was at Escape Rooms - that is that game when you are locked in a strange room and you get out by solving different rebuses and puzzles. We also played Nought and Crosses in 4D, sometimes we went to a pub or to the Maths Common Room of the University of Aberdeen and discussed some interesting Math problems. I liked it very much so when I was offered a place in the leadership at the University of Aberdeen Maths Society, I accepted very gladly. And because I passed all the exams very well, I immediatelystarted to think about new ways to attract new members. There is lack of new members all the time in the Society.

From the beginning of the next semester we will start to persuade all the interested people, that Math is fun, it is full of games, puzzles, rebuses, surprises and unexpected solutions. We will organize more events for students of non-Math subjects and have fun.

Keep your fingers cross, please!
