Applications for scholarships in the Universities programme for the 2026/2027 academic year were open to new applicants from 1 January to 28 February 2026. During this period, a total of 119 applicants applied for foundation support and will go through a two-round selection process in the coming weeks. In the first round, representatives of the The Kellner Family Foundation assess the information provided in the submitted applications; in the second round, selected candidates take part in in-person interviews with the Foundation’s Board of Trustees. The results of the selection process will be announced around mid-June 2026.
This year’s applicants include 67 male and 52 female students from all regions of the Czech Republic. The highest number of applicants come from the capital city (42), followed by the Central Bohemian Region (18), the South Moravian Region (15), and the Moravian-Silesian Region (10).
This year’s applicants for university scholarships once again represent a wide range of fields of study, from natural and technical sciences to social sciences, humanities, and the arts. I am confident that the applications will once again yield a diverse selection of talent from across the Czech Republic. It is encouraging to see that our country continues to produce a steady number of motivated young people each year who aspire to a high-quality education. I see this as the best possible news for our shared future.

The most popular destinations for studying abroad remain, as in previous years, the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, the United States, and Ireland. Other frequently chosen countries include Canada, France, Germany, and Switzerland, while more distant destinations such as China and Australia also appear in applications.
Among the universities most frequently listed in applications are University College London, Imperial College London, and King's College London. In technical fields, Dutch universities in Delft University of Technology and Eindhoven University of Technology remain consistently popular. As every year, applicants also apply to some of the world’s most prestigious institutions, including University of Cambridge, University of Oxford, Yale University, and Stanford University.

The scholarships are intended for Czech students enrolled in undergraduate programmes. Since 2009, the Foundation has supported 285 scholarship recipients, distributing nearly CZK 165 million among them.
