28 New University Students Receive Kellner Family Foundation Scholarships to Study Abroad

The new scholarship recipients succeeded in a two-round selection process, which attracted 119 applicants from across the Czech Republic this year. In the autumn, they are expected to begin their studies at leading universities in the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, the United States, Ireland, Singapore, Sweden, Germany and Denmark. Two will attend the University of Oxford and another two the University of Cambridge. Others are heading to institutions including King’s College London, Eindhoven University of Technology, Trinity College Dublin and Berklee College of Music.

This year’s scholarship selection process attracted a large number of applicants who demonstrated a sustained interest in their chosen fields of study. Many have achieved success in prestigious secondary-school competitions, while some have already published academic papers and completed relevant internships. The Foundation’s Board of Trustees therefore had an exceptionally strong group of candidates to choose from and ultimately approved support for a record number of new scholarship recipients. I am delighted that we have once again been able to select so many talented young people from different regions of the Czech Republic, giving them the opportunity to study at some of the world’s best universities.

In the 2026/2027 academic year, the Kellner family foundation will provide scholarships to a total of 62 university students. In addition to the 28 new recipients, it will continue supporting 34 students who joined the Universities programme in previous years. The total amount of support for the coming academic year will reach CZK 22.9 million, the highest figure since the programme was established in 2009.

Through its Universities programme, the Kellner family foundation helps Czech students gain an education at leading universities abroad. The scholarship is intended for talented young students enrolled in bachelor’s degree programmes who have demonstrated a long-term interest in a particular field. The Kellner family sees support for study abroad as an investment in the development of Czech society as a whole. Scholarship recipients are therefore required to commit to using the knowledge and experience they gain during their studies for the benefit of the Czech Republic. Since 2009, the Foundation has supported 313 scholarship recipients, distributing a total of CZK 189 million among them.
