Towards the Career

The last days at university were very stressful – dissertation in French, taking care of French Bureaucracy and final exams. On the top of all of this trying to get a new employment and of course all the final good byes’ breakfasts, lunches and dinners were not easy to handle either.

All of this began with writing my dissertation. Spending nights on working on this document was nothing very much satisfying. However, at the end of the day, I was very proud of my work and I was turning in this piece of work with a feeling that it will certainly not be worse than a “B”. The opposite was true. My professor told me that it could not have been worse and that I will not be able to graduate. It was an unbelievable shock to me – at this point I could not imagine what will follow up – Will I be able to get a job? Will I have to pay the tuition fee again? To retake all of the subjects? Believe me, the feeling with which I was leaving the university on this day was very bad. I was sitting home and while staring into the wall I was trying to take care of all the necessary things. However, later on during the evening, the University called me and has informed me that I did not pass my dissertation mainly due to the fact that my professor did not like me for some reason. Therefore, they have decided to pass me and let me graduate. My feelings have turned upside down and I started taking care of all the necessary things for leaving France instead of worrying about prolonging my studies. I have successfully graduated in July in Great Britain, where I have achieved a diploma of Bachelor of Business Administration with Second Class Honours (Division one).

During the last months of university, I have also achieved to get accepted by an international company called KAMAX as a trainee controller. Within this programme, I have the chance to learn about the business, about how the company works and of course I have the chance to enhance my knowledge within the finance field every day. Every four months I have to change a location, so I could get to know all of our entities throughout the entire world. My first placement was in Germany, where I was working in the Holding and therefore got the chance to understand the overall structure of the company as well as to get to know all of the people who coordinate the entities. As of today, I am in Turnov, Czech Republic, where I have the chance to learn more about the entity itself and where I can concentrate on the “more practical” controlling in a manufacturing plant. This programme is satisfying me a lot and the energy put to the work by all of the employees is keeping me motivated to learn and to get better in the field in which I would like to stay one day.

Regarding my plans for the future, everything is still very unsure. I would like to stay in KAMAX and keep on developing my knowledge in the finance field. After the trainee programme I would like to try to receive a master’s degree and maybe the CFA or CIMA titles. (Charted Financial Analyst or Chartered Institute of Management Accountants). However, this is all the unforeseeable future.

All of the above mentioned I could not have achieved without the support of my family, friends and The Kellner Family Foundation. I would like to thank to everyone for their support and encouragement. I would like to thank also The Kellner Family Foundation for their nine years support without which I could not study on the best schools in the world.

Thank you!
