Third trimester of MA at Bath Spa University

The last trimester at BSU was once again a great student as well as life experience. I have met loads of interesting people and I have also made some good friends.

This is partly due to setting up a newly established university basketball team. Me together with couple of other students have decided to set up a new team since the previous team had not been taking it seriously and over a short period of time, and due to lack of organisation, they ended their ‘university basketball career’.

However, the newly set up team has had started very well and I think the future of BSU basketball is on a promising path. Not only do we have a great president but also the entire committee is very active and eagerly working together towards the same goal – to achieve good results in the university basketball league. Surprisingly, we’ve had managed to get two full men’s and women’s team and we are looking forward to the fresher’s fair where we will be ‘recruiting’ new team members. I heard this year there are  loads of American students coming to BSU, so I hope we will get plenty of skilful and experienced players, as the competition in the university basketball league is very high and we’ll need all help we can get.

About my academic side of my life in Bath - the university experience has improved a lot, partly due to the new academic building at the campus and also the new halls of residence. The state-of-art building I have talked about in my previous blog entry is just amazing and I cannot wait to actually see it all.

Although my placement was fairly short I can still say I have merged into the world of school management and also leadership implementation. This brought me to an idea for my possible future job. One day I would like to work in a group of people that would go around schools and produce a complete evaluation of the school’s running, as well as evaluation of leadership and as well as a booklet about the vision and goals of the schools – two things that seems to prevail in the schools’ advertising and evaluation.

I would probably like to do that in Czech rep. as I can already see this is something the Czech educational system is missing. I have also changed my independent study topic from comparing two historic leaders and their leadership to comparing women’s and men’s leadership. I can say that so far, according to all the researches I’ve read, women come up as ‘better’ leaders.

The next academic year starts in October, and I cannot wait to start working on my final MA dissertation.

I hope you all have a good summer.
