Second year in full pace

It hasn’t been long since the first term of second year started and I already feel like it has been for ages. I moved back to London two and half months ago. My very heavy luggage was damaged on the way. The largest issue, regarding moving back, was in the end finding my house. It took me more than an hour with the damaged luggage to find my house in the neighbourhood.

I live in a house for the first time, which is a considerable change to living in a shared hall accommodation last year or to living in a flat for 18 years. We rent the house with other 3 friends of mine who study Geophysics, Physics and Electrical Engineering.

I also had the chance to completely refurnish my room to make it an ideal place for studying. But what I appreciate the most is that my bed is in front of window. Consequently, every sunny morning I am woken up by a natural sunshine, which also heats my room to a very comfortable temperature. However, we have issues with heating and it tends to be usually quite cold in the house.

With the new academic year new hobbies came as well. Cycling became my nearly daily hobby and also a mean of transport to the college. Cycling in London is unique! The traffic makes it a dangerous hobby full of adrenalin, excellent in the mornings to waken up all senses. The route to the college goes through Notting Hill, which results gradual improvement of my shape. I am glad to have a mountain bike, which is suitable to any weather and I would say also to any traffic.

I expected very demanding and intense start of the term. However, it was still underestimated. Very frequent lectures and difficult tutorials makes a true challenge for time management. Already after 4 weeks we finished 2 modules, which were instantly followed by new ones. The most challenging module is definitely Quantum Mechanics and I can’t wait to attend new lectures.

Last year I did shooting quite intensively. Unfortunately, I have labs in during most of the shooting sessions, which make it difficult to maintain this hobby. Apart from shooting I took up yachting. I found out that yachting is so far the best way I could imagine spending my weekend. I enjoyed every single minute on sea, particularly at helm. I can’t wait for new yachting trips to be announced so I could plan my work in advance and enjoy a wonderful weekend on sea.
