Pharmacology is conquered, aka. the most difficult exam is completed

The summer semester has begun, and I have so far completed 12 exams and credit tests, with 10 more remaining. The hardest and most feared exam this year has been pharmacology. It has been the last semestral exam, before my state exams in the 6th year, therefore a lot of importance has been placed on it. Pharmacology has 100 questions, and the number of drugs and remedies we had to learn resembled Yellow Pages. Fortunately, I managed to pass the exam, and I have hopefully few calmer semesters ahead of me.

Apart from the exams and distance education, currently taking place, I am still helping in the pulmonary Covid department in Thomayerova Nemocnice, whenever I have spare time and don´t have to study. With the arrival of new Covid mutation and continuous breaking of government restrictions , our hospitals are reaching its limits. I understand that the restrictions have been for too long, nevertheless the society does not see the actual situation behind the hospital gates. In addition to a traditional pulmonary department I also decided to help on the intensive care department, where I take care of patients in a more critical state, which not only allows me to help as much as possible, but I am also learning so much along the way. The medicine happening in the hospital cannot be compared to the one we learn from books, which is why I am so grateful for this opportunity.

I sincerely hope that with vaccination we will stop, or at least slow down the pandemic, lowering the number of hospitalized patients. The situation is not looking so bright, however, our health system is resilient, and I appreciate the work Czech medical staff is doing.
