Part-time job as a way to get to know your university

When in May I was applying for the position of receptionist at Clubs&Societies Centre, it felt like September was in very distant future. The interview was quite relaxed and I was among other things asked if I would consider working as an Assistant for Skills4work. Ironically, I have attended many of their sessions and was initially considering applying for that job. Few weeks after, I was offered both jobs and happily accepted.

During a training day in mid September I had a chance to get to know my co-workers and familiarise myself with my duties. All seemed very new and complicated at the start, now after more than a month I can proudly say that I can deal with most enquiries and my manager have received couple of compliments about me from both students and staff.

Working at UCL Union really helped me to feel here even more like at home, it is not always easy to fit my work around all my lectures and tutorials, but knowing that I am developing very precious transferable soft skills, makes it all worth while.
