Holidays - no holidays

My exams ended in mid-May, yet I started feeling holiday-like only the day before yesterday. Until then, I had been waiting for my exam results and for my Australian visa. As a result, the start of my holidays was even more stressful than the exam period.

My exams ended in mid-May, yet I started feeling holiday-like only the day before yesterday. Until then, I had been waiting for my exam results and for my Australian visa. As a result, the start of my holidays was even more stressful than the exam period.

Now that I know I have completed my second year very successfully, I can pack for Australia. With the good news, at least I could have a few peaceful vacation days in Exeter. The weather finally turned for the better, too – I could savor a few sunny days after a month of nothing but rain. I am packing up again now and returning to the Czech Republic tomorrow. I won’t stay long – studying in Australia will cut my holidays noticeably shorter, and I’ll leave for the Land Down Under on the fifth of July.

I will spend the few days left saying goodbye with family and friends, as I will not return home for more than a year. As I have said, I spent all of June nervously waiting and e-mailing. The one thing that stands out was my trip to Plymouth. I had to get a medical check-up in Plymouth for my visa. My partner and I decided to take the opportunity to visit the local aquarium, which is said to be the largest in all of England. I must admit that it truly was a beautiful thing to see. In addition, it really helped me to get rid of my sea phobia, seeing what lurks in the water. My horror of octopuses and jellyfish was replaced by a fear of sharks. Seeing a shark in a picture is completely different from having one float right above your head and show off its sharp teeth. I hope not to meet any of its kind in Australia.
