Finally a small part behind me!

Finally and moreover successfully, I have the first semester done. It was hard, but I knew that. Fortunately, I did not have to repeat any exam. On the other hand, others say that the second semester is a much harder, so I am a little bit afraid or rather curious how it is going to look like.

Now more specifically! As I have already said last time, my first semester was composed of ten subjects (eleven, but my sport lessons did not last long). Five of these ten subjects ended with exam – Biology, Pet Animal Husbandry, Biostatistics, Agricultural Production and Czech language. The rest was more about completing tests and getting all necessary credits to pass – Anatomy, Histology, Biophysics, Chemistry and Medical Terminology. All of my subjects in the first semester are already closed. In the second semester I can look forward to Anatomy, Histology, Biochemistry, Physiology, Botany and Zoology.

I did most of my exams already in December, so I could concentrate on the hardest one in January, on Biology. I finished all of these including biology better than I have expected. My exam from Czech was the easiest. It was more about formalities since this subject is rather for my classmates – foreigners – to learn basics of Czech. Agricultural Production was nice to write about, it is practical and about farm animals including agriculture as such. Pet Animal Husbandry was similar. The exam was more specific, but who would not like to write about pets. Biostatistics, as a subject most similar to Math, was mostly about mechanical learning, but I have succeeded in this one too.  Lastly, Biology was the hardest. All 120 questions gave to me and my classmates a hard time. However, I was lucky and did not have to go to the oral part. I had 28 out of 30 points necessary for passing previous test without the oral exam, thus I could leave with a smile on my face. Finally, I have five A and all 32 credits out of 32.

Now I have a few weeks for rest and finishing all things I need and on 11th of February I can begin again. I am happy that I have this small piece of my study done. Moreover, the fact that I did so successfully gives me a good feeling. I hope that the second semester will be also so successful.

In conclusion, I would like to mention one of my thoughts that came across my mind after finishing this semester. I think that it is very important during studies on such a difficult university the attitude of the student. Of course we are in a stress all the time, but it is essential to not be so sensitive and sometimes just take three deep breaths and do it. Mostly students want to finish exam for the first trial, but even when doing so for second or third is not the worst case. Even though I did not have to deal with this, most of the people around me think about leaving the university (some won’t even return for the second semester). For me the school is important, but if I fail it is not the end of the world and only few people are able to realize it. So with my chin up, smile on a face, and enthusiasm I go further and my goal is to keep it this way. It is nice to convince myself about deciding for the right field of study.
