Farewell Oxford

With my last post I would like to dearly thank to The Kellner Family Foundation which supported me during my last year at Oxford Brookes University. Thanks to the scholarship I had the chance to focus on my studies and especially on my dissertation which was dealing the Czech citizens living in Oxford.

What’s next? At the moment I am sitting in an old apartment in Berlin where I do my internship for the Institute for Cultural Diplomacy. I planned to come to Berlin from one single reason, the creativity. Over the past couple of years Berlin has become this weird, twinkling, colourful, sexy and impudent city which emerged from the grey and censored regime. What captivated me the most is the creative class of people working in the music industry which has hugely contributed into the cultural economy of Berlin.

Besides my interest in the creative industries of Berlin I also observed certain habits that Berlin has.

1. People do not wear helmets on the bike
2. On Sunday everything is closed
3. Kebab, Falafel and CurryWurst are the lifesavers after night out
4. Being naked, anywhere, is fully acceptable (in s-bahn, park or street)
5. You don’t need fancy clothes
6. Berliners believe in recycling, especially of glass bottles
7. Sunny days are incredible. Berlin has the best parks and lakes and not to mention open air parties

For the following year I was accepted to pursue master degree in Cultural and Creative Industries at King’s College London  but who knows where I will be next year.
