Change is a life

The year has just started and suddenly exams are ahead of me as I near the end of the winter term. I hadn’t been oriented to the school web system when I realized that I needed to register for the exams that we end with every half year. After spending a few hours with friends discovering how to sign up for every exam we were supposed to have done, we congratulated each other. We did fine and were able to take our exams the next week.

Unfortunately, here at Unicorn College, students in the first year have no opportunity to undergo exams on earlier dates. So, my last exam was two days before the new summer term started, which meant that I had no holiday at all. Despite that, I felt great because of a really successfully completed winter term. I am totally into the new semester with new and more interested subjects that were now available.  At the beginning of school year there are just the basics classes in Economics and Management. Now, I have subjects that I’m more interested in.  However, there will always still be mathematics classes. The paradox is that I always fought with math, and in the end, I’ve chosen my major to be Economics, where mathematical things are needed. However, I believe that patient fighting will help me to get through just as in the first term. At the end I will win against math.

In this winter term, they finally opened one of the extracurricular activities. We have been waiting since October English Club.  My full-time studies are in Czech language, so I’m looking for any chances to speak in English and use it as much as possible, as I did in the last four years at Open Gate. I met some new native speakers and I’m trying to improve my English skills as much as possible. Moreover, I started studying another foreign language - German; it’s already the third one for me. My plans are to go abroad during my studies so you never know when you will need to speak one of the most spoken languages in Europe. My journey via Erasmus will hopefully be during the next school year.

I hope the second term of university is going to be at least the same or better than the previous one. I am also looking for some part-time job, because my schedule is quite easy and flexible and I need to save some money for working abroad during this upcoming summer holiday. These are my biggest goals during this term of the year. I truly believe that everything will work out, even if you need to give it more effort than you expect sometimes.
Even though the life at university is totally different from my life before, I feel it’s a very good change and I’m content with it. Let’s look forward to new opportunities, experiences, and in the end surprises!
