Bad Luck

Second term is mostly same as the first one, although we were promised a lesser workload. Nonetheless, the extreme workload did not prevent me from participating in a hiking trip to Lake District (National Park).

These hiking trips are organised by experienced hikers and thus I could learn a lot from them. In addition, I met new friends. The trip was totally astonishing because of amazing weather we had, which is very rare. On Saturday, we had a blue-sky weather with pleasant sun shine all day long. Thanks to that I could take lot of beautiful pictures. The park is so far that although we set off early on Friday, we managed to arrive just after midnight. On the first hiking day, Saturday, we hiked nearly 20 km in difficult terrain. I have never experienced such an amazing hike before. On the following day, we loaded the student minibus and parked at nearest parking to the other planned track. We hiked most of the day and set off in late afternoon to make it reasonably late back to college.

The trip was overall amazing, apart from one issue. I had a brand new shoes so I got a huge blister. But what’s worse, I got a strong infection through the blister. The spread of the infection was rapid and soon I was sick. In one day, the leg hurt. In two days, it turned red and I exhausted all possible home medicine. On the third day, I could not walk and suffered strong pain. At that point I made it to see doctor. Surprisingly, I was admitted in the NHS Imperial Centre, which is considerable achievement. Doctor instantly prescript antibiotics. Unfortunately, antibiotics didn’t help at all. On the following day, I suffered fever and the leg was even more painful. I already had tickets to Royal Opera House for Il Trovatore and I was determined to go. The opera was amazing, but after return back to home I found my leg tripled in volume! On the following day I became a comedian. I appeared as if zombie apocalypse came real. When I walked I had to drag the leg behind me as if it was about to break free from my body. My faced looked as if I was undead and I made weird noises whenever I moved. I had to see doctor as soon as possible. Suffering terrible pain, I made it to NHS Imperial Centre, where I scored again by being admitted to see doctor. The doctor was seriously considering transferring me to hospital. In the end, I was given the strongest antibiotics available with multiple doze. If that did not help in 24 hours, I was supposed to call ambulance for transfer to hospital. Fortunately, it finally helped and in following fortnight I managed to fight the infection.

Soon after my recovery, I had bad luck again. On Valentine day, I became a victim of burglary to our house.  I lost most of my valuables such as laptop and wallet. Particularly, the loss of the laptop was significant mainly because my laptop was like my companion and I was used to it. My total damage was nearly £1000 and the total damage including my housemates was £3000. Unfortunately, this loss still affects me considerably.

I hope I exhausted every possible bad luck and on balance I should have good luck for revision and exams.
