I decided to study law in the UK after taking a Law in Practice course at the Discover summer academy. There, I first learned about the role of precedents in English-speaking countries’ law. Judgments in which the Justices provided reasons for their conclusions through argumentation and thoughtful consideration attracted me. Law is a field that combines issues from numerous areas, including politics, biology, and ethics. It is the diversity that fascinates me so much about law studies.

I have opted for Queen Mary University because it offers a number of opportunities to tap your potential outside the school’s curriculum in addition to providing high-quality instruction to its students. Besides being a competition with a long tradition simulating court proceedings, Queen Mary has its own legal advice center specializing in pro bono activity. The support provided by The Kellner Family Foundation will help me start the second year at the school and participate in the above activities, which have broadened my horizons more than the lectures and seminars themselves.

I want to get involved in extramural activities and student societies and to continue contributing to student journals on issues that I consider to be important. I aim to excel academically and to follow up on the bachelor’s program with a master’s program specializing in European and international law. I would like to work in the Czech Republic or elsewhere in a position that will allow me to promote democracy, human rights, and the ideas of the rule of law.

Interests

Volunteering, participation in programs simulating activities of international organizations, foreign literature, karate, and travelling.
