Goodbye Britain! Hello France!

The end of June brought about the end of my time living in the UK. After two years packed with studies and experiences, I had to say my final goodbye to the country. The final semester was one of the most stressful periods, as in addition to nine exams, I had (and still have) to battle European bureaucracy, which now takes days instead of hours, for the sake of my easy and seamless transfer from the UK to a university in France.

Whether I managed to complete all of the forms precisely the way the French officials envisaged I will not know before September, and the worst case scenario is that I will have no place to stay. But the university has already confirmed via telephone that I passed all my final exams, so I can enjoy my summer holidays without stress, at least in this sense.

To sum up my life in the UK, I can say with a clear conscience that I used the time to the absolute fullest extent – I learned many new things (academic and extracurricular), helped the local community, participated in various contests, and got to know new friends and new places. I really got to like Britain, so I hope that I will have an opportunity to stay there for longer than just fourteen days on holidays sometime in the future.

But academic duties won’t let me rest even on holidays. Since we have to take a summer internship at a firm at least once when on summer vacation, I tried my luck in the Czech Republic this year. I was admitted to a summer placement at an international company that produces and supplies cement, aggregate and concrete, and I will work most likely on an assigned project in strategic management alongside the Chairman of the Board of Directors. I believe that I will have an opportunity to get a glimpse of international business from a perspective that is very different for me, and that I will learn many new things that I can use in my further management studies.

And so I am in for an active summer, as in addition to working and bureaucratic matters regarding France, I will slowly gear up for a new language, new learning style and new environment.

Please keep your fingers crossed for me!
