Goodbye Aberdeen and hello World

As the time passes another chapter in my life is soon to be over. My University life will soon finish – well at least for the time being. I can now say that I officially passed all my exams and next week I will with hired gown and squared hat not only graduate but also say last good-byes to my friends and Aberdeen.

Last few months were amazing, busy and crazy. I wrote my last few essays, enjoyed spring break in Kenya where I built another library, came back to take my final exams and thought a lot about my future. Only now I realized how many interesting places there are around Aberdeen which I have not yet seen and I try to visit them whenever I can.

And my future career?  – graduating in International Relations-Sociology opens plenty of interesting options and positions. However, as this degree is not that uncommon most of those positions are highly competitive. Instead of job or internship-hunting I have decided to take a break and travel. The tricky part in applying for all the internships and graduate jobs is the need to have previous experience in the field. Some people simply accept positions in anything hoping to get enough experience to then get a job in relevant field but instead of wasting time and spending my summer working for Oil companies or Banks I will try to get some relevant experience on my own. I always wanted to work in or study the field of development, conflict resolutions and/or environmental preservation and I believe that out there somewhere - there are enough options and opportunities for me to experience it first handed. Whether it will be through EVS (European Voluntary Service), my newly registered NGO (Bookfeeding project), travelling or the combination of those three I do not know but I am sure that I will definitely not be bored and frankly I am really excited about not having any plan.
