Chapter six – A summary of my Junior Year at the Manhattan School of Music & a list of plans in the nearby future

As I mentioned in my previous chapter, this academic year was indeed my most successful year by far. I got better grades; I have experienced a lot of important events (see my previous chapter). I got lucky in performing on the Carnegie Hall stage again – this time as a member of the MSM Chamber Choir. The choir performed with orchestra as a part of “The Centennial Project” Gala Concert of the MSM – a 100th Anniversary of the foundation of the MSM. I hope that this is a sign for me. Who knows - maybe one day I may perform in the Carnegie Hall as a soloist in a full recital. Though, performing in the famous Prague concert halls in Rudolfinum or The Municipal House sounds not bad at all as well…

One more year left till my graduation and obtaining a Bachelor of Music degree. Before that happens, I am planning to participate in two piano competitions, one in Germany and the other in the U.S. The German competition will be in a town called Geilenkirchen, its name is “Euregio” and the competition consists of three rounds (for my category). In the final round, participants are supposed to play a piano concerto with an orchestra. The American competition is called “Rosalyn Tureck Bach International Piano Competition” and this competition is more specific regarding repertoire. In the category that I chose, participants have to play a selection of Songs without words by Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy, a Bach piano transcription of pieces originally written for other instruments such as organ, violin or even a choral ensemble as well as a contemporary piece or a piece written in the 2nd half of 20th century.
I am already immensely excited and dedicated to show the best of my abilities both in the upcoming competitions and in the following academic year. Again, I am thankful to the Kellner Family Foundation for their financial aid. This aid enables me to experience important and key moments in my life and my pianistic development.
