I come from Dačice in South Bohemia, where went to the primary school and then to the first year (“prima”) of the local eight-year grammar school, spending most of my leisure time playing music and sports. In my fifth year (“kvinta”), I decided to apply for the Rotary Youth Exchange program and then spent the full second year of senior high in Punta Gorda, a small town in Florida. The one year in an entirely different environment made me think more about the world around me and about myself, and most importantly it gave me the courage to try new things. Thanks to support from The Kellner Family Foundation, I joined the Open Gate grammar school after returning from the US, and I completed my secondary education with a Czech school-leaving exam and the IB.
For a long time, I was not sure about what I wanted to do in the future, and so I would always try everything I could and attempted to get to know as many people as possible, learning about their professions and opinions. I had an opportunity to take on many volunteering activities, and not only during my studies at Open Gate, whether it was teaching younger students or helping build a clay house in India. I also successfully completed the Gold level of the Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award.
I grew to appreciate planning and addressing unusual and unexpected situations primarily thanks to travelling—for example, during my trip around Iceland this year and during my two-month stint as a babysitter in Spain. Since I wanted to combine organizational skills with mathematics and logical thinking, I chose the Information Management for Business program, which will prepare me for working in various fields.

My goal at the moment is to successfully graduate with a Bachelor’s degree and to continue studying for a Master’s degree. While in London, I want to use the opportunities that the city offers and, among other things, gain experience at some of the local companies. I also want to travel a lot, getting to know the world and learn from other people’s opinions and experience. I want to use all of it later in my job, which I will hopefully enjoy while proving beneficial for the society as well.
Volleyball and other sports, reading, playing the piano, singing, volunteering, travelling, and any adventure.
