Open Gate graduate in 2016

I come from Dvůr Králové nad Labem [a town in Central Bohemia] where I attended the Johann Amos Comenius Elementary School. In seventh grade, I transferred to the Open Gate Grammar School, where I spent six years with the kind support provided by The Kellner Family Foundation. I completed my studies there by passing the Czech school-leaving examination [“maturita”] and the International Baccalaureate (IB).

I have long contemplated studies abroad. However, after weighing my options for a long time, I opted for a school in the Czech Republic. The reason is that I would like to try out all educational levels in the Czech Republic (from primary to tertiary), as I would like to work as a language teacher at Czech schools in the future. As part of my community service, I have spent a lot of time in Czech government-run schools where I realized the need for a radical reform of the Czech school system; however, such reforms must be based on a foundation of good teachers. I would like to see the kids even in government-run schools have opportunity to receive the same high-quality education as I had.

Secondary

Open Gate Grammar School, graduated in 2016

Tertiary

AKCENT College, Prague, Czech Republic, English as a foreign language, beginning 2016

Goals

My current goal is to advance in my in-depth learning of English and Spanish, mainly in terms of linguistics and lexicology. I would like to reach the highest possible level in both languages. After gaining the requisite knowledge and experience, I would like to teach these languages at a professional level, mainly using modern and effective methods that motivate young students to learn the foreign languages that they need to speak these days.

Interests

My interests include sports, mainly golf and floorball. In my ‘leisure’ time, I have worked in catering for five years; it is a real source of relaxation for me. I have recently worked as an assistant chef rather than a waitress; thanks to this, cooking has become my favorite hobby. I would like to write a book about my life, as everyone would like to, or a cookbook for IB students one day.
