Hana Košťálová

Programming Director

Hana Košťálová is responsible for the fundamental policy and technical management of the project and leads the project’s group of instructional coaches, and its literacy team.

She graduated from the Faculty of Arts of Charles University in Prague, majoring in Czech and Pedagogy. From 1997, she worked as the national coordinator, teacher and international certifier of the Reading and Writing for Critical Thinking program. Together with her husband, she founded the Kritické listy [Critical Newsletter] quarterly, which appeared for almost fifteen years. Over time, she joined various workgroups of organizations managed directly by the Ministry of Education, in The Czech School Inspectorate, in People in Need [a charity], and in the Health Promoting Schools project. She taught Critical Reading and Thinking as a visiting teacher at the Faculty of Education of Charles University and has long taught in the pedagogy program at the University of Economics in Prague. She has co-authored Evaluation: Trust, Dialog, Growth with Mrs. J. Straková (SKAV 2008), Verbal Evaluation of Students with Mrs. Š. Miková and Mrs. J. Stang (Portál 2007), and Literacy – Educational Goal for Every Student (ČŠI 2009). She is a member of the ILA (International Literacy Association) and the SKAV civic association, which she co-presided for several years.
