I want to successfully graduate from The University of Sheffield in medicine. I have always wanted to combine natural science with a direct benefit for society. Thanks to volunteering in homes for the elderly, I realized that what I enjoy most is working with people, helping, calming and soothing them, so I chose a medical career. This allows me to combine everything I am interested in, and I cannot wait to see where this path will take me in the future.

Interests and hobbies

Music – piano and recorder playing, badminton, jogging, travel, photography, and getting to know different cultures and languages

Student resume

My name is Le Thu Tran but everybody calls me just “Miu”. I am an ethnic Vietnamese but I was born in the Czech Republic and have studied in England for the last two years. While in my sixth year at the Budějovická Grammar School in Prague I received a grant to study at Shrewsbury School, an independent school in the UK. Studying in the UK has shown me that you can tackle anything – you just have to try hard, not be afraid and, primarily, never give up. Thanks to my parents, I was able to travel and get to know diverse cultures from an early age. This also motivated me to study abroad, which finally opened doors to more opportunities for me. I can speak fluent Czech, English, Vietnamese and German, and would like to learn French and Chinese.
